HOLY MOLY AMAZING SALE DAY OF 5-STAR HUGE HITS!!!!! I don’t usually do a “Sunday book finds” list, but this one just had to be posted. Some recent BookTok sensations are on a HUGE sale today so I am indulging…
How did I choose just 10? Well… these were the ones that gave us blurb jolts, or that one or many of us raved over, right here on the blog (or on my Facebook page).
That said, there are 31 books on sale so here is the entire list for you to peruse.
Without further ado, here are the ones I’m extra excited about:
Malibu Rising by Taylor Jenkins Reid <— ON SALE TODAY & I JUST ONE-CLICKED IT!! PARTY OF THE YEAR!!! THE ONLY ONE I HAVEN’T READ YET IN HER ERA/DECADE SERIES (which I’ll put together right after this post). “Four famous siblings throw an epic party to celebrate the end of the summer. But over the course of twenty-four hours, the family drama that ensues will change their lives forever….By midnight the party will be completely out of control…”
Michele G: I also loved TJR’s Malibu Rising…I highly recommend it…but don’t expect a romance. It’s just all around great story-telling.
Tasha J: Malibu Rising …yep, loved
If He Had Been with Me by Laura Nowlin <— ON SUPER-SALE TODAY!! I’M IN LOVE WITH THIS COVER & I KEEP SEEING IT ON THE AMAZON MOVERS & SHAKERS LIST! THEY USED TO BE INSEPRABLE BUT NOW THEY IGNORE EACH OTHER… “…Autumn has her boyfriend Jamie, and her close-knit group of friends. And Finn has become that boy at school, the one everyone wants to be around. That still doesn’t stop the way Autumn feels every time she and Finn cross paths, and the growing, nagging thought that maybe things could have been different. Maybe they should be together. But come August, things will change forever. And as time passes, Autumn will be forced to confront how else life might have been different if they had never parted ways...”
Kim: If He Had Been with Me…OMG….I read this for the publisher way back in my blogging days…..yes I sobbed but it’s worth it…I adored that book.
Amy: Speaking of traumatic teen reads, did you ever read If He Had Been With Me? Oh, my freaking heart. It spans over the four years of high school, but the pacing is absolutely perfect and never felt too fast or too slow. It never dragged, at least not for me because it felt like there was always something interesting going on. I became so wrapped up in the story that I naively convinced myself what was most likely going to happen wouldn’t actually happen. Then BAM…I got my a$$ handed to me.
Milissa: I read if he had been with me. Oh how I loved it
Reminders of Him: A Novel by Colleen Hoover <— ON SALE TODAY ONLY!! SHE JUST GOT OUT OF PRISON BUT EVERYONE IS SHUTTING HER OUT…. “…The only person who hasn’t closed the door on her completely is Ledger Ward, a local bar owner and one of the few remaining links to Kenna’s daughter...”
Cristina: I finished Reminders of Him yesterday afternoon and when I closed the book, all I could say was WOW (with tears coming down my cheeks)!! This book is absolutely incredible! 5 HUGE stars for me!…
Although this book deals with a different topic than It Ends With Us, it reminded me of it because it had me so deep in my feels. It’s heartbreaking and gut wrenching and just beautiful. It deals with some really heavy stuff like It Ends With Us and Colleen just pens it to paper in a way that even if you’ve never experienced it personally, you will still feel it… deeply.
As a Mother and wife, I can relate to Kenna and Grace and my heart shattered to pieces for these two. It’s about the power of grief, guilt and forgiveness. It’s also about perception and second chances. I really just can’t say enough great things about it. When I finally learned what happened that tragic night, I choked up with tears and had to take a break. I was so heartbroken for all of them. And those last couple of chapters? Make sure you have a box of tissues. You’re going to need them.
“Sometimes I wonder what Scotty would think if he could see us. It makes me hope that an afterlife doesn’t exist, because if it does, Scotty is probably the only sad person in heaven. “
Allison: It was SOOOOO GOOD!
Michele G: really liked it. It felt like “old school” Colleen Hoover to me.
Before I Let Go (Skyland Book 1) by Kennedy Ryan <— ON SALE!!! SO MANY WENT CRAZY FOR IT!! MARITAL STRIFE/SECOND CHANCE ROMANCE??!! Sounds AMAZING!! “…Yasmen wasn’t prepared for how her life fell apart, but she’s is finally starting to find joy again. She and Josiah have found a new rhythm, co-parenting their two kids and running a thriving business together. Yet like magnets, they’re always drawn back to each other…”
Tasha J: I finished another 5⭐️- Before I Let Go by Kennedy Ryan. ALL the feels! I know I read another review here not long ago, and I can’t remember who, but I’ve heard nothing but great things with this one, and it totally lived up to my expectations too.
Normal People: A Novel by Sally Rooney <— ON SALE & IT’S NOW A SHOW ON HULU!! I’ve been wanting to watch it, but maybe I should just read it instead. 😉 THEY ARE DRAWN TO EACH OTHER… “…Connell and Marianne grew up in the same small town, but the similarities end there. At school, Connell is popular and well liked, while Marianne is a loner. But when the two strike up a conversation—awkward but electrifying—something life changing begins. A year later, they’re both studying at Trinity College in Dublin. Marianne has found her feet in a new social world while Connell hangs at the sidelines, shy and uncertain...”
Tasha J: I’m watching Normal People on Hulu. Quietly good. Like, it doesn’t just jump out at you, but I like where it’s heading. I saw it’s based on a book some of you have read. Should I be prepared?
Chitwan: Today I come with a tv show recommendation that I think all of you will love!
Normal People just came out on Hulu and is based on the book Normal People by Sally Rooney. The book itself was amazing but this tv adaptation is just out of this world. Never seen just a perfect adaptation of anything on the screen, it is so true to its source material. It’s a romance angsty genre with plenty of sexy time 😉 The acting by the leads is superb and you can’t help but binge-watch the show in one sitting!Maryse: I want to watch Normal People ’cause everyone is so in love with it but supposedly it will tear my heart out. YIKES!! DO I DARE???????
A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder by Holly Jackson <— ON SALE TODAY!!! BLURB JOLT! A MURDER SUICIDE IN HIGH SCHOOL & SHE DECIDES TO INVESTIGATE FOR HER FINAL SCHOOL PROJECT… “…Now a senior herself, Pip decides to reexamine the closed case for her final project, at first just to cast doubt on the original investigation. But soon she discovers a trail of dark secrets that might actually prove Sal innocent . . . and the line between past and present begins to blur…”
Have you read this one yet? It sounds like scary fun!!
We Were Liars by E. Lockhart <— ON SALE!! & MUCH LOVED BUT BECAUSE OF THE GUT PUNCH!!
Tasha J: Oh. My. God. I just finished We Were Liars. Its just awful! SO so good, but just awful! My throats all tight and my eyes are all watery and I did even see something coming and I still got punched!!!
Lisa: A dark twisted cross between Enid Blyton’s Famous Five and F Scott Fitzgerald’s Great Gatsby. Tragic and beautiful. Loved it! A very good reminder of why I should read more YA fiction.
Ann: Yes! “We Were Liars” made someone’s list! That was my ugly cry book of 2016. Like you, Lisa, I tend to stay clear of the “hurty” books. But once in a while I let one thorough, and damn if it WWL didn’t kill me. There I was cruising along, enjoying a nice little YA read, until BAM! Biggest twist ever.
I cried.
Like a child.
The Guncle by Steven Rowley <— ON SALE!! ONCE FAMOUS GAY SITCOM STAR WHO NOW HAS TO CARE FOR HIS NIECE & NEPHEW AFTER A TRAGEDY…
Jackie: The Guncle by Steven Rowely has two hilarious kids. The uncle, GUP (short for Gay Uncle Patrick) is cut from the same cloth as Jeff Lewis (from Flipping Out) and these two kids are the perfect foil for his level of snarkiness. Definitely recommend this book.
Kathy: The book is about a former sit com star Patrick (or Gay Uncle Patrick) as his niece and nephew call him who after the loss of his sister in law, takes his niece and nephew with him to Palm Springs so that his brother can start to get his life on track. This book had everything from tears to laughs.
Seven Days in June by Tia Williams <— ON SALE & IT GAVE ME A BLURB JOLT!! TWO FAMOUS AUTHORS SECRETLY WRITING TO EACH OTHER VIA THEIR BOOKS!!
“…Seven days to fall in love, fifteen years to forget, and seven days to get it all back again…
Eva Mercy is a single mom and bestselling erotica writer who is feeling pressed from all sides. Shane Hall is a reclusive, enigmatic, award-winning novelist, who, to everyone’s surprise, shows up in New York.
When Shane and Eva meet unexpectedly at a literary event, sparks fly, raising not only their buried traumas, but the eyebrows of the Black literati. What no one knows is that fifteen years earlier, teenage Eva and Shane spent one crazy, torrid week madly in love. While they may be pretending not to know each other, they can’t deny their chemistry—or the fact that they’ve been secretly writing to each other in their books through the years…”
Maggie Moves On by Lucy Score <— ON SALE & LUCY SCORE IS ALL THE RAGE RIGHT NOW! SHE RENOVATES HOUSES FOR HER TV SHOW & IS EXCITED TO GET STARTED ON HER NEW PROJECT…
“…She has her to-do lists, her blueprints, and her team. What she doesn’t have is time for sexy, laid-back landscaper Silas Wright.
The man takes flirtation to a whole new level. And he does it shirtless…sometimes pants-less. He and his service school-dropout dog are impressively persistent. But she’s not interested in putting down roots. Not when fans tune in to watch her travel the country turning dilapidated houses into dream homes…”
